80% of the people who answered my questionnaire said that they liked the speed of the editing, I feel like this is the most common answer because for a majority of the video the editing speed matches and changes with the speed of the song. I can also see that 60% of people specifically liked how the clip speeds varied throughout the video and how the speed of certain clips change. This shows me that my target audience likes faster-paced videos.
Only 40% of people who answered my questionnaire said that they would share my music video with someone they know. The other 60% obviously replied saying they would not. There are only two conclusions I can draw from this data. The first is that they don't think they know anyone who would be interested in seeing this music video. The second reason may be because they didn't think the music video was good enough to show to someone else which is understandable considering that even though this music video was made for this target audience, I wasn't able to create something I knew would fully appeal to the audience as I was held back by the restrictions of themes and needing to create a project which I would be able to explain for marks and a good grade.
From this data, I can tell that 40% of my audience enjoyed the video to the point where they didn't think there was anything to change to really make it better, these two people are most likely the two people who said they would share the video with someone they know. The other 60% of people had different reasons for what they thought the video could improve. One person said that they would have made the clip length "a bit shorter". This is understandable considering that the song has very fast sections which would go well with shorter cut clips. However, I didn't do this because I wanted to exaggerate the disequilibrium that the character is experiencing within his mind.
Another person thought that the colours could have been "exaggerated" more. I feel like this comment is talking specifically about the science sections of the video. However, this would not make sense because the science section of the video is the calm before the storm, where the character is in a semi-rational state trying to calmly fix his problems. It makes a lot more sense that only the forest scenes are exaggerated in colour because that's when he's in a panicked state and doesn't really have any idea what's going on. At that moment he's also under the influence of the substances he made in the science lab, so essentially he's high in those sections of the music video. The other person to answer was less specific with their answer and said that I could "change the brightness of the colours". I'm guessing that they had the same meaning as the other person who answered, however, I cannot be 100% sure.
One of the skills I developed during my project was my creativity. Through researching and looking at other music video of similar and different genres I was able to come up with what I believe to be a somewhat original idea. However, due to my music video needing to fit into certain themes, I wasn't able to be fully creative with my idea.
Another skill I developed through my project was my communication. As the director, I had to give the actors and people working on the set commands to make everything flow and run correctly.
The final skill that I developed during the project was my organisation. Due to the number of people working on the project and me being in charge of it all, I had to work with everyone involved and make sure when they were available to film and how to get everyone together at once. This took a lot of organisation because a lot of people involved had different timetables so everyone was in and out of college at different times making it difficult to pinpoint when everyone was free.
If I was able to do this project again, one thing I would change is the type of music video I filmed. My project was an abstract music video and didn't involve a lot of directing to complete. If I changed the music video to be a narrative or performance then I would have to give a lot more direction to the people involved.
